Tom Umstattd, CPA
Tom has been in public accounting since 1980 when he received a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. He became certified in 1983 and began his own accounting firm. After working 5 years in Houston, this native Austinite returned home. His memberships include the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, and Austin Chapter of TSCPA. Tom is president of VPCI, serves on several boards, and is a co-founder of the Austin Rhetoric Club. He is a committed believer and church member. He has been happily married to Ginger since 1979 and they have 5 children.
Aaron Lerma, CPA – Senior Accountant
As the newest member of the team, Aaron Lerma began working for Tom Umstattd, CPA in 2014 as a tax preparer. He received his B.B.A from Thomas Edison State College in 2008. Aaron earned his CPA license in November 2015.
Laura Morgan – Bookkeeper
Laura Morgan is the new office bookkeeper, performing billing and office tasks. She graduated from Trinity University in 2005. Laura is a busy mom of 4 young children and spends her free time helping with homework and planning family dinners. She also enjoys serving her church in Liberty Hill.
Lorraine Mahan – Office Assistant to the Tax Preparers
Lorraine Mahan serves as an Office Assistant to the Tax Preparers. Lorraine’s resume includes working as a legal assistant and as a teacher. She has 4 grown children and 7 young grandchildren. She enjoys family time, piano, gardening, and talking with friends.
Nathan Schneider – Tax Preparer
Nathan started working for TUCPA in 2000. Nathan has a BBA in Accounting from The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and a Masters in Business Administration from Liberty University.
Nicole Schneider – Office Assistant to the Tax Preparers
Nicole stared working for TUCPA in August of 2022. She graduated from Concordia University Texas in April of 2021 with a BA in education.
David Umstattd – Property Management Director
David Umstattd has a BA in Marketing from Baylor University and has been managing real estate since 2017. David has assisted in the family business at TUCPA since he was a child.
Karen Turner – Office Manager

Karen had an Associates degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management, and a Master of Business Administration. In the past 10 years, Karen has worked as an office manager for a CPA firm in Austin. She was fortunate enough to have a work family that were not just colleagues, but also very dear friends. Karen also leaves behind many friends she considered family. In Karen’s eyes family was not created by blood but rather by love. She will be deeply missed, but the impact she left on the hearts of those she loved will live on forever.
